Spain to Join South Africa’s Gaza Genocide Case Against Israel

By Hikma Temam

Spain has become the first European country to join the case filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice that accuses Israel for Genocide in its war on Gaza.

Since South Africa filed the case to the International Court of Justice, alleging that Israel's operation in Gaza caused genocide and mass destruction, the court has ordered Israel to stop its military offensive on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, but refrained from ordering a complete end to the war in Gaza.

However, Israel has shown no signs of complying or cooperating with the court's order. "There is no doubt that Spain will continue to stand by the truth," Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said in a statement following the foreign minister's announcement of his government's position.

Mexico, Colombia, Nicaragua, Libya and Palestine are waiting for the International Court of Justice in The Hague to respond to their request to join South Africa, according to the Associated Press. As per the health officials in the besieged and bombarded territory, the death toll following Israel’s war on Gaza, which began in October, has surpassed 36,500.
