African Vaccine Sector to Secure USD 1.2 Bn

World leaders, pharmaceutical companies and health sector stakeholders jointly pledged a USD1.2 billion to support vaccine production in Africa.

The financial offer came to terms in their move to boost African vaccine production as they met in France, Paris to dwell on the subject.

As he delivered his speech to the global gathering in Paris, French President Emanuel Macron called on stakeholders to increase African vacancies production to 60 percent in 2040, which is now only 2 percent.

He also reminded of the need to redouble vaccine producing companies so as to   contain the ever-increasing cholera outbreak in Africa.

Africa is enduring crises and complication in the health sector since the result of COVID-19 outbreak, according to reports.

UNICEF in 2021 revealed that 23 million children were unable to get basic needs and failed to get vaccinated in 2020 when the pandemic reached its peak.

The Paris forum planned to collect 9 billion USD for over twenty-diocese vaccination.

There is a plan to secure over one billion USD  over the decade to come, Africa News reported.
