The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) emphasizes the importance of incorporating homegrown knowledge to ensure the success of the national dialogue, aiming for inclusivity and substantial impact.

Dr. Yonas Adaye, Commissioner of the ENDC, stated in an interview with local media that the commission is striving to integrate indigenous knowledge, cultural values, and inclusive dialogue frameworks. He highlighted that dialogues concerning militants are being facilitated either directly or through their representatives, based on their consent.

The commissioner also mentioned that preparations for agenda selection are ongoing in various regions of the country. The commission is following its execution directive to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive selection process.

Dr. Yonas elaborated that the commission is currently identifying participants in the Amhara State. This process involves engaging with diverse community members, including religious institutions, local administrators, legal professionals, traditional social organizations like Idir, and political parties.

Furthermore, discussions have been held with the Tigray State Interim Administrators, scholars, and civic associations. An agreement has been reached for their involvement in the National Dialogue process, underscoring the commission’s commitment to broad-based participation.
