PM Abiy Launches Rural Corridor Development to Connect Urban, Rural Initiatives

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has expanded his annual summer volunteer development program to include a new rural corridor initiative, aiming to bridge urban and rural development efforts across Ethiopia. This year's program, launched in the Central Ethiopia Region, builds upon the success of previous urban housing projects, such as the transformative Awari area residential development.

Under the Prime Minister's direct support, model rural corridor projects will be constructed in the Halaba, Kembata, Hadiya, and Siltie Zones of Central Ethiopia. These developments are designed to elevate the living standards of rural communities nationwide.

The new homes will be cost-effective and culturally sensitive, striking a balance between modernity and tradition. Key features of the designs include harmony with the natural environment, the use of sustainable and affordable materials, and the ability to function off-grid. The rural corridor design plan also incorporates essential infrastructure such as water scarcity solutions, dedicated animal shelters, and biogas production systems. Furthermore, the initiative will ensure food security through sustainable conservation practices in dedicated garden areas.

Prime Minister Urges Youth Participation in Summer Volunteerism

"I advise all citizens, especially the youth, not to let the summer pass idly," said Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), as he officially launched this year's summer volunteer program in the Central Ethiopia Region.

In a message shared on his social media page, the Prime Minister emphasized the significant impact of collective action. "If we plant trees, we prevent soil erosion; if we help the vulnerable, repair their homes, and clean their neighborhoods, the meaning is immense," he stated.
