Ethiopia's Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, met with William Roos, Assistant Secretary for Multilateral Affairs and Development at the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, on the sidelines of the 2025 IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings. The meeting covered a range of important issues.
Minister Ahmed expressed Ethiopia's appreciation for France's bilateral partnership and support through multilateral institutions. He particularly thanked France for co-chairing, with China, Ethiopia's Official Creditors Committee and helping advance debt treatment under the G20 Common Framework.
The Minister briefed Roos on Ethiopia's reform progress and positive economic outlook, while noting global economic challenges.
Assistant Secretary Roos congratulated Ethiopia on reaching an agreement in principle on debt treatment parameters and praised the government's sound economic management and reforms.
The two officials agreed to continue close cooperation on development through bilateral and multilateral avenues.
