Israeli Ambassador To Ethiopia Says Ethiopia's Sea Outlet Vital For Economic Growth

The Israeli Ambassador to Ethiopia, Abraham Nigusse (PhD), emphasized the urgent need for a resolution to Ethiopia's sea outlet issue, asserting that it is crucial for the nation’s economic growth and the well-being of its people.

Ambassador Abraham underscored that a seaport is essential for Ethiopia, a country with a population exceeding 120 million, to sustain its burgeoning economy.

The Ambassador praised Ethiopia's peaceful diplomatic efforts in seeking access to the sea, describing them as both appropriate and necessary.

He stated, "All countries of the world that are zealous for justice will see Ethiopia's desire for a seaport as right. A country with a large population should not live without a seaport."

This sentiment highlights the broader implications of the sea outlet issue, which is not just about trade but also about national dignity and economic self-sufficiency.

The Ambassador pointed out that a seaport would significantly enhance Ethiopia’s capacity to engage in international trade, thereby fostering economic development and creating job opportunities for its citizens.

He further stressed that the issue is widely recognized by the international community, stating, "There is no government or country that does not understand this situation. It is an issue that can be resolved through peaceful diplomacy."

Ambassador Abraham's remarks come at a time when Ethiopia is striving to bolster its economy amid various challenges.

By advocating for access to a seaport, he hopes to galvanize support from the international community to recognize and address Ethiopia's legitimate aspirations for economic growth and development, ENA reported.
