Mayor Adanech Abiebie today has opened the city-wide "Ethiopia - Addis Ababa Tamirt 2017 E.C. or Made in Ethiopia" Manufacturing Industries Exhibition at the Addis International Convention Center, which serves as a center of economic excellence, under the theme "From Consumption to Production."
She stated that the manufacturing industry sector is one of the primary economic sectors receiving focus. Therefore, they are undertaking numerous activities to make Addis Ababa a center of industry by encouraging innovation, supporting producers, providing finance, facilitating workspaces, fulfilling infrastructure needs, providing necessary vocational training, and supporting manufacturers.
She explained that the Ethiopia Tamirt movement, or Made in Ethiopia, beyond revitalizing the sector, serves as a platform that enables industries that had stopped production for various reasons to return to their manufacturing operations. It also allows producers to promote their products to consumers, create market linkages, and conduct sales and provides a high-level forum for producers to exchange experiences.
The mayor called upon the city's residents to visit this exhibition, which features the participation of over 250 manufacturing industries, and to encourage manufacturing industries by using domestically produced goods, supporting local manufacturers, and purchasing local products.
