Commissioner Urges Stakes for an Inclusive, Participatory Dialogue.

Chief Commissioner of the National Dialgue Commission underlined that the consultation process meant to heal wounds of the past, through inclusion and participation should be the responsibility of all stake.

The Commissioner, Mesfin Araya (PhD), made the remark while signing an MoU with three opposition parties, which previously pulled out of the process citing reservations. The Agew for Justice & Democratic Party, Mocha Democratic Party and the Geda System for Oromo Freedom Party have signed the MoU with the three-year old Commission to work together towards rectifying fault-lines, which stood in the way of peace in the Horn of African nation.

The commission announced that the three parties had previously withdrawn support, adding their decision to patch-up differences and find their way back into the process is a manifestation of how critical support by stakes has become for the much-awaited dialogue.

The chief Commissioner, who studied in St. Petersburg (Leningrad) before practicing it as a professor at the Addis Ababa University for decades, took time to bring representatives of the three parties up to speed on current consultation initiatives.

Araya used the occasion to call on all other political groups, who have taken a walk out of the dialogue process to re-establish ties with the Commission and work for healing past wounds.//
