United Nations General Assembly President, Dennis Francis, met and discussed Monday with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Taye Atske-Selassie in Addis Ababa.
According to Ethiopian Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson, Ambassador Nebiyu Tedla, the two dwelt on pressing multilateral issues like climate change, technological advancement, capacity building, financial support, and sustainable development.
Foreign Minister Ambassador Taye also briefed President Francis on Ethiopia's ongoing political and economic reforms.
The discussion expanded to address regional concerns, with both parties acknowledging Ethiopia's contributions to stability.
The two sides exchanged views on the upcoming UN "Summit of the Future" scheduled for September.
Ambassador Taye emphasized the need for reform within the UN system, particularly regarding security issues.
President Francis, on his part, commended Ethiopia's efforts on regional challenges and reaffirmed the UN's support for the country.
This high-level meeting underscores Ethiopia's commitment to multilateral cooperation and its active role in addressing global challenges.
