Ethiopian Customs Commission is holding discussions with manufacturing organizations on customs procedures.
The commission, during the discussion disclosed that efforts are being made to respond to the problems faced by manufacturing organizations and increase their contribution to the country’s economic activity.
Ethiopian Customs Commission Commissioner, Debele Kabeta, pointed out that various activities have been carried out to encourage the manufacturing sector, especially the economic reform, which has already attained encouraging results.
Measures taken by the commission to support the process with technology and improve policies are noteworthy, he noted.
The amended customs policy mainly helps to implement procedures that allow for fair and reliable service provision as well as strengthen border control and utilize techs-assisted systems.
The commissioner stated that in addition to modernizing and improving the system, another focus is to strengthen the coordination system with manufacturing organizations, particularly by employing tax, tax relief and similar activities to encourage manufacturing organizations.
