Ethiopian Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Itefa (PhD), met with the General Manager of China Energy International Group, Qiao Xubin.
Minister Habtamu briefed the delegation led by the GM the investment opportunities in Ethiopia's Energy and Water sectors, which included providing off-grid solar power in areas far from the main electricity grid, improving power transmission lines, power distribution and distribution infrastructure, groundwater exploration and drilling, and the construction of general sanitation and sewage treatment infrastructure.
On his part, State Minister for Energy, Sultan Wali (PhD) noted that Ethiopia has a high potential for renewable energy generation; however, electricity access is less than 54 percent.
The state minister noted that Ethiopia's policy of public-private partnership in the sector creates favorable conditions for engaging in the energy development sector.
General Manager of China Energy International Group said that his institution has extensive experience in the energy development sector and is known for building large-scale projects in China and Africa.
