Chief Government Whip Minister Tesfaye Beljige (PhD) has emphasized the urgent need for ongoing rehabilitation efforts for displaced individuals affected by a devastating landslide in the Geze Gofa District of Southern Ethiopia.
During his recent visit to the Burda Sub-District, Minister Tesfaye inspected the progress of recovery initiatives and expressed satisfaction with the current efforts but insisted that more must be done to ensure long-term stability for the affected communities.
The landslide, which occurred several weeks ago, left many families homeless and in dire need of assistance.
The Zonal Communications Office reports that local authorities are collaborating with relevant departments to address critical infrastructure issues, including road access and lighting, which are vital for the community's recovery.
Furthermore, Minister Tesfaye highlighted the importance of providing social and psychological support to those impacted by the disaster, recognizing that emotional healing is just as crucial as physical reconstruction.
“We must strengthen our commitment to these communities,” he stated, urging all stakeholders to contribute to the ongoing rehabilitation efforts to restore hope and dignity to those who have suffered.
