Debre Berhan's ongoing corridor development is poised to significantly enhance the city's aesthetic appeal and boost its potential for residents, investment, and tourism. This key benefit was underscored by Dr. Ahmedin Mohammed, Coordinator of the Urban Development Sector with the rank of Deputy Chief Administrator and Head of the Urban and Infrastructure Bureau for the Amhara Region, during his recent field visit to inspect the corridor work and a new modern market center construction in the city.
Other regional leaders, officials from the North Shewa Zone, and administrators from Debre Berhan city also participated in the field visit.
The first phase of the corridor development in Debre Berhan covers a 3-kilometer stretch from Teba’sea Mesalemiya to Beresa Bridge. This phase includes the construction of roads, dedicated paths for bicycles and pedestrians, and the creation of public parks.
In a statement, Dr. Ahmedin noted that work is progressing with integrated leadership oversight to ensure the remaining tasks of the first phase are completed according to the set timeline.

Furthermore, the visiting officials observed the construction progress of the modern market center. This significant project is being carried out through the cooperation of the Debre Berhan City Administration and the regional government.
Dr. Ahmedin explained that the market center, once completed with the intended quality within the remaining months of the current year, will play a key role in sustainably stabilizing market prices by creating a direct link between producers and consumers.
He concluded by affirming that robust support and close follow-up will continue to be provided to ensure the center's construction remains on schedule and that it becomes operational as planned.
