The Minister of Peace, Mohammed Idris, has discussed with the delegation of the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia on issues related to preventing conflicts and how to collaboratively work on peacebuilding endeavors.

During the discussion, the minister stated that institutions and various sectors need to work together in a coordinated manner to return citizens displaced by conflict to their former residences.

The minister provided a comprehensive explanation regarding the Ethiopian government's ongoing efforts to return displaced people to their former homes in a way that strengthens the unity and cohesion of the people and ensures lasting peace, allowing them to resume stable lives.

He also indicated that preventing conflicts and resolving them peacefully through dialogue requires extensive effort and has diverse characteristics, thus necessitating collaboration with various governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as partner entities.

The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia, Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, on his part, commended the ongoing work in Ethiopia to prevent conflict and build lasting peace.

Information obtained from the ministry indicates that he pledged to support the ongoing conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts.
