President of Ethiopia Taye Atsek- Selassie has received and met with UN General Assembly President Philemon Young at his office.
In his statement, President Taye noted that he held fruitful discussions with UN leaders yesterday and today.
In his discussion with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, he noted that they discussed and reached consensus on national, regional and international issues that strengthen the long-standing relationship between Ethiopia and the UN.
Similarly, he noted that today’s meeting with UN General Assembly President Philemon Young focused on the mandate and functions of the General Assembly, as well as the long-awaited reform of the UN.
They exchanged valuable ideas, particularly on the issue of Africa's proper representation in the Security Council.
Former Prime Minister of Cameroon and President of the UN General Assembly, Philemon Young, said that they had a fruitful discussion with the President on the United Nations and Africa.
The President, who said that Ethiopia is a key country in Africa, stated that it is an important member state that firmly believes in the UN Charter.
He also noted that Ethiopia and the UN General Assembly have a long-standing relationship, which he said will continue to strengthen in the future.
