Russian upper house speaker Valentina Matviyenko is in Addis Ababa for an official visit to bolster relations between Russia and Ethiopia.
Upon their arrival at Bole International Airport, the delegation was received by the Speaker of the Ethiopian House of Federation, Agegnehu Teshager, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Birtukan Ayano, and other high-ranking government officials.
The delegation, which is scheduled to stay in Ethiopia for two days, is expected to hold discussions with various officials on further strengthening Ethio-Russian relations. They are also expected to visit various locations in Addis Ababa.
Ethiopia and Russia, which established official bilateral relations in 1943, have strong and historic ties in education, culture, defense, and other sectors. Ethiopia's membership in BRICS is also expected to further strengthen multilateral relations between the two countries.
