Southwest Ethiopia Region to Plant 399 Million Seedlings This Year

The Southwestern Ethiopia Peoples' Region is undertaking a massive tree-planting initiative this year, with plans to plant 399 million seedlings that offer diverse benefits.

Previous green initiatives in the region have already fostered increased productivity and improved natural resource conservation, creating favorable conditions for growth and environmental protection.

The regional "Green Legacy" program is currently underway in the Bench Sheko Zone, with the presence of the Regional Chief Administrator, Engineer Negash Wagesho (PhD).

Yeshiwas Alemu, Head of the Regional Government Communication Bureau, explained that extensive preparations have been made for this significant Green Legacy program.

So far this budget year, over 202.3 million seedlings have already been planted out of the planned 399 million.
