Ethiopia Prolongs National Dialogue Commission (NDC) Mandate by One Year

Ethiopia has decided to extend the term of the National Dialogue Commission (NDC) by an additional year. The House of People’s Representatives of the country made this resolution on Tuesday following a thorough evaluation of the Commission's performance over the past three years.

Acknowledging the commendable efforts of the Commission amidst challenging circumstances, the House acceded to a request for the extension of its mandate. This decision stemmed from the realization that several critical objectives remain unfulfilled.

The members also expressed the need for the government to demonstrate its commitment to ensuring that armed groups in different parts of the country participate in the consultation forum and discuss and resolve their issues around the table.

After the members of the House presented various questions and suggestions on the resolution, it was approved by a majority vote.
