38 Institutions Set to Submit Agendas as Ethiopia's National Dialogue Enters Key Phase

Ethiopia's national dialogue is poised to enter a critical agenda collection and consultation phase in the coming days, with 38 institutions, including the House of People's Representatives and the House of Federation, expected to submit their priority issues to the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission.

These institutions represent a broad spectrum of national stakeholders, recognized for their roles in decision-making, implementation, and influencing national affairs. Their participation is seen as vital for identifying comprehensive solutions to the country's challenges.

EBC recently highlighted this upcoming phase, hosting discussions with various guests on its "Addis Ken" program to underscore the significance of the process.

Addressing inquiries regarding the commission's outreach to the Tigray region, Commission Spokesperson Tibebu Tadesse stated that two main areas are currently the focus. He indicated that efforts are underway to establish connections with relevant bodies concerning planned activities in the region, working towards facilitating conditions with the interim administration. He added that discussions have already taken place with scholars, civil societies, and political parties within Tigray.

Tibebu emphasized that the agenda collection process is being conducted inclusively across all regions of the country. He affirmed that efforts are being made to create a conducive environment for dialogue in Tigray, mirroring the approach taken elsewhere. The spokesperson added that the commission is fully prepared to swiftly carry out the agenda collection once favorable conditions for discussion are established.
