Ethiopia's Green Industrial Parks Attract Global Interest

UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner has highlighted the growing global market for sustainable goods during a visit to Ethiopia's Hawassa Industrial Park. Rayner met with Dr. Fisseha Yitagesu, CEO of the Industrial Parks Development Corporation, to discuss the park's progress.

During their discussion, Dr. Fisseha highlighted the corporation's commitment to environmental protection within its special economic zones. He emphasized the construction and operation of wastewater treatment plants in each zone to mitigate industrial pollution.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the rising labor costs in Asia, pushing apparel and textile manufacturers to explore the African market. She emphasized that this presents a significant opportunity for Ethiopian manufacturers. The UK government, she added, is actively working to connect British buyers with Ethiopian producers.

Following a visit to the special economic zone, the Deputy Prime Minister also suggested exploring opportunities to connect the Ethiopian diaspora in the UK with British investors to further strengthen Ethiopia's economic activity.
