In a move signalling growing diplomatic engagement, Tajikistan has vowed to bolster cooperation with Ethiopia across a diverse range of sectors, from trade and investment to security and cultural exchange.
The announcement came as Ambassador Jamal Beker, Ethiopia’s Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Special Envoy to Tajikistan, presented his credentials to Tajikistan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Farouk Sharifozoda, in Islamabad.
Ambassador Jemal emphasized Ethiopia's unwavering dedication to strengthening African unity, highlighting the nation's foreign policy priority of continental integration rooted in the spirit of Pan Africanism.
He underscored Ethiopia's successful hosting of the 38th African Union Summit and proudly proclaimed Addis Ababa, a prominent diplomatic hub, as a symbol of Pan-Africanism and a beacon of progress.
“Ethiopia stands firm in its commitment to fostering stronger relations with Tajikistan through enhanced cooperation at the bilateral, regional, and multilateral levels,” stated Ambassador Jemal during the credential presentation.
Sharifozoda, in turn, expressed his admiration for Ethiopia's tireless efforts in promoting Pan Africanism and regional integration, acknowledging its vital role in fortifying African unity.
The Tajik government reaffirmed its commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation with Ethiopia in key areas, including trade, investment, aviation, security, climate change, education, health, and culture.
This commitment, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Pakistan, reflects a shared vision for mutual growth and development between the two nations.
The pledge from Tajikistan to strengthen ties with Ethiopia not only underscores the growing importance of South-South cooperation but also highlights the enduring appeal of Pan African ideals on the global stage.
