House Urges Nation to Shake off Hatred, Embrace Forgiveness

The Ethiopian Parliament urged nation to let go of hatred and resentment and allow more love, forgiveness, solidarity, and tolerance into its hearts while welcoming the new Ethiopian year of 2017.

The Ethiopian calendar splits a year into thirteen months. Ethiopia receives more sunlight than many other nations due to its proximity to the Equator, which has contributed to Ethiopia's rise as a popular tourist destination worldwide.

The 547-seat legislative assembly, also the highest in the bicameral parliamentary structure, according to the Constitution, emphasized that in the upcoming year, there should be a great deal of hope and readiness to bring about change and prosperity for the nation.

 

In its New Year message, the Parliament further announced that it has made effective decisions to promote the true image of the  country in the field of parliamentary diplomacy.

The House pledged to press ahead with addressing rising demands from the people, particularly by fixing attentions on good governance.

The Parliament turned the spotlight on the pressing issue of improving the living standards of citizens, adding unity and lasting peace of the people, and the unity and sovereignty of the country will be fulfilled with diligence and determination.

Wishing 2017 to be a year of peace, health, solidarity and prosperity, the House called on Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia to rally around peace, development and national sovereignty.//
