The Amhara Regional High Court and Ethio Telecom have signed an agreement to enhance the region's Smart Court system.
The agreement, signed between the Amhara Regional High Court and Ethio Telecom, will allow users to access court services from anywhere convenient.
The ceremony was attended by high-level officials from both institutions, including Alemante Agdew, President of the Amhara Regional High Court, and Frehiwot Tamru, CEO of Ethio Telecom.
President Alemante stated that the agreement represents the implementation of a digital system that will make the justice system more efficient, accessible, and ensure high-quality judgments. He also mentioned that this digitalization is one of ten reform projects currently underway in the regional high court.
A modern court service (Smart Court System) is a technological application that digitally connects courts, allowing users to attend hearings and participate in arguments remotely via voice and video services.
It's designed to enable users to open files from anywhere (using an e-filing system), improve information management for users, and speed up and improve the quality of court services and justice overall.
Frehiwot Tamru, CEO of Ethio Telecom, explained that Ethio Telecom is pursuing a transformative path, moving beyond standard telecom services. They aim to provide services beyond SIM cards and broadband internet, working towards a digital Ethiopia.
This justice system digitalization is a part of that transformation. She also assured that the digital system will be completed on time and implemented efficiently and effectively.
