African leaders need to consciously participate in the changing global geopolitical process, said Moussa Faki Mahamat, the outgoing Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
He made the call earlier today at the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union at the Union’s headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He recalled evolving situations, including climate change, conflicts in Africa, Covid-19, the war in Ukraine and Russia have greatly affected Africa, and African leaders are then expected to come up with solutions to the problem.
Although one of the goals of Agenda 2063 is to make the continent a zone of peace, he said that many people are being subjected to poverty and humanitarian crises due to conflicts in some countries on the continent.
He added that Africa should be determined to achieve the development goals set out in Agenda 2063 to lay the foundation for it to stand on its own.
He also said that Africa should design and implement a new curriculum in line with the global academic circle.
He also said that in order to be competitive with other continents, it should increase the capacity and use of technology and artificial intelligence.
He said that the member states of the Union should continue to support the Union without hesitation and make the Union independent and independent.
