Ethiopian Ambassador to Canada Tewodros Girma has recently held a wide range of discussion with Ethiopians living in Toronto and surrounding cities.
The virtual meeting, conducted via Zoom, brought together community leaders, members of Ethiopian organizations, and individuals actively engaged in Ethiopian national affairs.
The ambassador expressed his commitment to working closely with the Ethiopian diaspora on key national issues. Participants emphasized the importance of fostering a unifying narrative for all Ethiopians and engaging in open dialogue on matters of common concern.
According to the information obtained from Ethiopian Diaspora Service participants also affirmed their willingness to actively participate in future discussions.
The online meeting was well-attended, highlighting the diaspora's interest in engaging with developments in their homeland.
Building on this momentum, plans are underway to hold in-person meetings in Toronto, organized by the Ethiopian embassy and local Ethiopian organizations.
It was revealed that these physical gatherings will provide further opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. In addition to fostering open communication, the embassy announced plans to improve access to consular services in Toronto. A new program is being developed to streamline these services for the Ethiopian community in the region.
This initiative underscores the Ethiopian government's commitment to engaging with its diaspora and ensuring their voices are heard in national conversations.
