AIIB Eyes Investment Collaboration with Ethiopia

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has expressed its desire to collaborate with Ethiopia on investment projects.

A delegation led by Ethiopian Finance Minister Ahmed Shide held talks in Beijing with AIIB President Jin Liqun and other senior bank officials. The discussions focused on how the bank, along with other investors and financial institutions, can leverage investment opportunities in Ethiopia.

Minister Ahmed briefed the AIIB leadership on Ethiopia's economic reforms and infrastructure projects. Rajat Misra, AIIB's acting vice president for investment operations, recently visited Ethiopia and praised the country's development projects.

Information from the Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing indicates that the AIIB president and senior officials expressed a strong interest in exploring investment options and establishing a collaborative partnership with Ethiopia.

Finance minister Ahmed Shide's delegation is currently on a working visit to China, according to ENA. It's noteworthy that AIIB President Jin Liqun previously visited Ethiopia in November 2017, holding discussions with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Minister Shide, and other government officials.

The AIIB, established in 2016 and headquartered in Beijing, China, is the world's second-largest multilateral development bank, with 110 member countries, including Ethiopia.
