The Africa Diaspora Forum (ADF) extended its heartfelt congratulations to the Ethiopian migrant community on the joyous occasion of Enkutatash, the Ethiopian New Year.
In Ethiopia, Enkutatash is a time to exchange wishes of joy and happiness with friends and family, celebrating renewal and hope.
It is a festive occasion marked by the exchange of thoughtful gifts, such as trinkets and money, symbolizing good wishes for the new year.
This celebration resonates not only in Ethiopia but also with the Ethiopian Diaspora and those connected to Ethiopia across the world.
ADF stated that it is with Ethiopians as they mark their new year, 2017. “As you celebrate the dawn of a new year filled with hope, prosperity, and renewal, we join you in honoring Ethiopia’s rich cultural heritage. Your traditions serve as a beacon of strength and unity within the wider African diaspora.”
The Ethiopian community in south Africa is an enduring spirit, the forum said.
“This special day is a testament to the resilience, vibrancy, and enduring spirit of the Ethiopian community, both in South Africa and abroad. The values of togetherness, progress, and cultural pride embodied in these celebrations align closely with our mission at ADF to foster harmony and solidarity among all African migrants in South Africa.”
The forum underscored that the Ethiopian community has been an integral part of the African diaspora in South Africa, “making significant contributions to our shared social, economic, and cultural landscape. As you gather with loved ones to mark this important occasion, we stand with you in celebrating the achievements of the past year and look forward to a future filled with greater success, unity, and collaboration.”
The Africa Diaspora Forum also wished the entire Ethiopian community “a peaceful and prosperous new year. May this Enkutatash bring renewed hope, joy, and progress to all.”
