Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has conveyed his Eid Al-Fitir greetings to the Muslim community on the occasion of the 1445th Eid al-Fitr celebration.
In his message, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of the holy month of Ramadan and the lessons it conveys to Ethiopia's present reality.
PM Abiy described Ramadan as the most anticipated month for the Muslim community, a time when the gates of heaven open and the faithful draw closer to their Creator through fasting, worship, and acts of benevolence.
Drawing a parallel, the Prime Minister stated that the changes of the month of Megabit or March, a month that he assumed power six years ago, has also required enduring trials, ups and downs, and patience, much like the anticipation and challenges preceding Ramadan.
However, he emphasized that these challenges, though formidable, are not insurmountable. He noted that just as the arrival of Ramadan is inevitable, so too is change.
Reflecting on the observance Ramadan, PM Abiy said it has been a peaceful month where Ethiopians of diverse faiths demonstrated unity, supported the destitute, and strengthened their national cohesion—beacons of light guiding the country's path.
The Prime Minister urged the public to carry forward the values gained during the Megabit /March/ changes, such as peace, forgiveness, and love, until the country's prosperity is solidified. He highlighted unity as the path and prosperity as the destination, stating that these values will help the nation overcome the challenges of the changing era.
PM Abiy extended his best wishes for Eid al-Fitr, expressing his hope that Ethiopia will be honored and respected through the efforts of its children, and be blessed by the Creator.
