Only Dialogue Benefits Ethiopia, Says NDC Commissioner

BY AHMED MOHAMMED

The only way for Ethiopia to heal from inherited bottlenecks is dialogue, says chief commissioner of Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission, Mesfin Araya (Prof.).

His remark came today as   he addressed a gathering in Ethiopia’s Adama City, where persons of the disabled met to pinpoint potential roles in the push to translate the national dialogue into practice.

The commissioner stressed that striking a deal through dialogue is the only way to benefiting Ethiopia; no other way could satisfy the entire nation.

Mesfin  also spoke of sacrifices people are paying due to problems the country is facing in some part of  it, thereby calling on panelists to  generate constructive roles in the attempt to reconstruct twisted  rhetoric.

He also called on participants to brainstorm on agendas which they think are potentially relevant to people with disabilities in particular.

The commissioner said the commission is working to enhance the participation of the disabled so that their agendas will be part of the national portfolio for national dialogue.

The General Director of the Federation of Ethiopian Associations of Persons with Disabilities, Abayneh Gujo, on his part reminded participants that    communities across Ethiopia were     victims of disputes, misunderstandings and conflicts, however, he says, disabled people suffered the worst.

For lasting and durable solutions to flourish across the country, “we should forward our say,” he called on participants who could   play a role to sustainably alleviate long -blamed national bottlenecks
