China and Africa are set to leverage the 2024 Beijing Summit Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to deepen their collaboration and contribute to global modernization, according to Ambassador Hu Changchun, Head of Mission of China to the African Union. Speaking at a press briefing, Ambassador Hu outlined the significance of the FOCAC summit, which will be held from September 4 to 6, under the theme “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.”

The event is expected to draw African heads of state along with representatives from various African regional and international organizations. This gathering will provide a platform for dialogue on enhancing the China-Africa partnership, fostering mutual development, and mapping a future course for cooperation.

Ambassador Hu emphasized that the summit presents a key opportunity for both China and Africa to strengthen their solidarity. "We believe that through this summit, we will make significant strides in deepening our cooperation and further contribute to global modernization and the development of a community with a shared future for mankind," he remarked.

Reaffirming China's longstanding partnership with Africa, Ambassador Hu highlighted the shared resilience and cooperation between the two sides, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. “China has always stood by Africa as a good friend, partner, and brother,” he said. “Together, we have navigated challenges, advancing our relations to a new level of building a high-level community with a shared future.”

The Beijing Summit, he added, will symbolize another milestone in the China-Africa relationship, characterized by mutual respect, equality, and joint consultations. Preparations for the event have involved intensive communication between both parties, with the aim of further promoting the spirit of friendship and cooperation. Ambassador Hu expressed confidence that the summit will stand as a beacon of unity and a testament to the enduring partnership between China and Africa.

This year's summit is poised to reinforce the China-Africa strategic vision and create opportunities for shared economic, social, and technological growth, marking a significant step forward in the collective goal of global modernization.
