The Ethiopian and Russian navies have engaged in discussions on enhancing their cooperation.
A Russian delegation, led by Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy Admiral Vladimir Vorobyov, visited Ethiopia’s General Department of Naval Institutions, which is currently under construction, as well as the Naval Training Center in Bishoftu.
Following the visit, the Ethiopian Defense Force’s social media page reported that discussions were held on future collaboration between the two navies.
Ethiopian Navy Deputy Commander for Operations, Commodore Jamal Tufisa, highlighted that the partnership primarily focuses on training and capacity building.
He emphasized the importance of working together to advance Ethiopia’s naval development efforts and enhance its readiness to safeguard the nation’s interests in international waters.
After the discussions, an agreement was signed to strengthen joint naval forces and facilitate further cooperation.
