Ethiopia is honored to serve as the headquarters for the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), a specialized institution of the African Union dedicated to public health, stated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).
In a message shared on his social media page, the Prime Minister noted that the laboratories and research capacities at the center play a significant role in disease control and in responding to epidemics and infectious diseases.
This opportunity will open avenues for our country's health researchers and experts to participate in continental research efforts and utilize modern laboratories, added the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Abiy emphasized that member states, in collaboration with partners, should work to strengthen this institution. He called on African leaders to fully commit to collaborating in enhancing our continental public health institutions and improving health services across the continent.
