Addis Ababa River Side Projects Transcending to Neighboring Counties

The remarkable transformation of Ethiopia, especially Addis Ababa, in recent years, including riverside  and corridor development, is inspiring many African countries.

Recently, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa lamented that Johannesburg should learn from Addis Ababa’s experience.

Now, Kenyan President William Ruto has officially launched the Nairobi River Protection and Riverfront Development Program, at a cost of 50 billion Kenyan shillings (over 386 million US dollars).

In the launch program, he said the government would work to make Nairobi a clean and safe city for its residents and visitors.

He said the project is a life-changing initiative that will bring dignity to life and ensure sustainable transport and economic benefits to thousands of residents.

He also assured the Kenyan people that the Nairobi Riverside will be transformed in the next 24 months.

He also said that the project, which will be implemented in collaboration with the Nairobi Rivers Commission and other institutions, will create employment opportunities for 40,000 citizens.

He said that the Nairobi Riverside Development Project will make the city livable and economically viable, and that it will combine affordable housing, modern shopping malls and other infrastructure, Citizen Digital reported.
