Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has announced that it generated over $61 million from electricity exports to neighboring countries in the past six months.

Moges Mekonnen, EEP's Communication Director, stated that the company continues to focus on power generation while supplying electricity both domestically and internationally.

According to Moges, EEP had planned to generate 11,686 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity during the first half of the fiscal year but exceeded this target, producing 13,504 GWh.

Out of the total electricity generated, 274.2 GWh were supplied to Djibouti, generating $17.16 million in revenue. Additionally, Ethiopia exported 654.9 GWh to Kenya and 26.6 GWh to Sudan.
