The first meeting of the Ethiopia-South Sudan Joint Border Trade Committee is underway in Bishoftu, Ethiopia.
This first meeting is aimed at reviewing the implementation status of the Border Trade Protocol signed by the two countries, said Ethiopian State Minister for Trade and Regional Integration, Yasmin Wuhabrebi.
The state minister indicated that the meeting will also discuss issues that can be addressed to strengthen bilateral relations through the implementation of the agreement.
The agreement will contribute significantly to the economic development of the peoples of the two countries and to creating peace and stability in the border area, according to the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration.
The meeting will also play a significant role in resolving problems such as smuggling and illegal trade and strengthening the implementation of the Border Trade Protocol Agreement.
