Ethiopia's Government Creates Conducive Environment for Floriculture Sector Investment

 Ethiopian Minister of Agriculture Girma Amente said that the government has created a conducive environment for the private sector to further enhance Ethiopia’s potential in the floriculture, vegetables and fruits sector.

The minister said the remark during his opening address at the 9th International Floriculture, Vegetables and Fruit Expo in Addis Ababa.

He added that Ethiopia is earning a significant amount of foreign exchange from its exports of floriculture, vegetables and fruits.

The Minister, who indicated that the government gas placed special emphasis on the sector, mentioned that it has created a conducive environment for the private sector, including the Agricultural and Rural Development Policy and the Floriculture, Vegetables and Fruits Strategy.

He said that comprehensive macroeconomic policy reforms have also brought great opportunities to the floriculture, vegetables and fruits sector.

Ethiopian Fruit, Vegetable and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association President, Tewodros Zewde said that 153 local and foreign companies will participate in the three-day international expo.

The expo is said to be a sound platform where international suppliers can establish market linkages with Ethiopian players in the sector.
