The Minister of Urban and Infrastructure Development Chaltu Sani declared the ongoing renovation of Emperor Fasil's churches and castles in Gondar a monumental step towards preserving a heritage that has transcended generations.

During her recent inspection of infrastructure projects in the historic city, the Minister emphasized the significance of these restorations not only as a revival of architectural beauty but as a unifying force for the community.

"These structures are more than just buildings; they are symbols of our ancestors' perseverance and resilience. For years, they stood on the brink of neglect and decay, but today, we breathe new life into them, showcasing our commitment to protecting our history,” Minister Chaltu stated passionately.

The inspection included various government officials who marvelled at the intricate architectural designs that have withstood the test of time.

Minister Chaltu noted that the extensive renovations were vital for restoring Gondar's historical splendour, which had been overshadowed by years of disregard. "Our ancestors left their mark, and we must honour that legacy for future generations," she accentuated.

Central to this revitalization effort is the corridor development project, designed to enhance both the aesthetic appeal of the city and its functionality for residents and tourists alike.

The Minister highlighted that this initiative aims to create an inviting atmosphere that attracts visitors from around the globe while ensuring convenience for local inhabitants.

Moreover, the long-awaited Gondar-Azezo asphalt road, a project that has been a community demand for years, is nearing completion.

This development is seen as a testament to the reformist government's dedication to improving infrastructure and fostering economic growth in the region, according to her.

First Deputy Mayor Chalachew Dagnew echoed the Minister's sentiments, announcing that the second phase of restoration for Emperor Fasil Church has commenced.

He assured that these efforts will maintain the historical integrity and architectural significance of these revered sites.

"The lessons learned from the first phase will guide us in executing subsequent phases with even greater precision," Chalachew noted, reflecting a commitment to excellence in preserving Gondar's cultural heritage.
