MUNDO Coffee, Dutch firm with a premium coffee brand and currently operating in Algeria, has expressed intention to visit Ethiopia soon and meet with Ethiopian coffee exporters to discuss technical matters that will foster collaboration.
The firm's officials held discussion with Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Algeria, Muktar Mohamed .
During the discussion, MUNDO officials explained that their company imports coffee of various origins from Vietnam, Indonesia, Côte d’Ivoire, Brazil, and other countries, to supply the Algerian market.
They also explained that their company import Ethiopian Arabica coffee from European countries and supply it to the Algerian market.
Ambassador provided a brief on Ethiopian coffee and elaborated to MUNDO officials on how their organization could benefit in terms of both quality and cost by importing coffee directly from Ethiopia.
Ambassador Muktar also explained the transportation options that can efficiently deliver Ethiopian coffee to Algeria, considering the geographical distance between the two countries.
He also highlighted the reduced cargo service fees offered by Ethiopian Airlines to coffee importing companies that purchase Ethiopian coffee.
On the other hand, he emphasized that purchasing Ethiopian coffee directly from Ethiopia would support intra-africa trade and significantly contribute to promoting development of the continent.
During the discussion, the Ambassador expressed his willingness to visit the MUNDO Coffee headquarters, and the officials responded positively, indicating they would plan a visit program as soon as possible.
The officials further stated their intention to visit Ethiopia soon and meet with Ethiopian coffee exporters to discuss technical matters that will foster collaboration. The Embassy assured them that the profiles of potential coffee exporters in Ethiopia would be provided.
