India's Ambassador to Ethiopia, Anil Kumar Rai, has stated that India is ready to cooperate with Ethiopia to improve its economy within the BRICS framework. The ambassador highlighted that BRICS presents a significant opportunity to strengthen trade, investment, development cooperation, and other ties between India and Ethiopia.
Ambassador Rai explained that BRICS assists developing nations in accelerating economic growth and maintaining global balance by adjusting international alignments. He announced India's readiness to utilize the BRICS framework to meet the needs of developing countries and collaborate on economic and other sectors. He further stated that BRICS enables Ethiopia to strengthen cooperation and partnerships with India and other member states, facilitating the exchange of experience and knowledge.
The ambassador confirmed India's willingness to support Ethiopia's ongoing reforms aimed at building a sustainable economy and ensuring prosperity. According to ENA, India pledged to stand by Ethiopia in addressing development challenges, collaborating on knowledge and strategy to achieve sustainable development.
Ambassador Rai emphasized the importance of Ethiopia's rapid growth and its BRICS membership in strengthening regional and international cooperation. He reiterated India's commitment to supporting Ethiopia's economic development and prosperity through bilateral, regional, and multilateral cooperation within the BRICS framework.
He noted that Ethiopia joined BRICS in January 2024, a significant step in enhancing Africa's global participation and cooperation with key development partners. He also recalled Ethiopia's participation in the 16th BRICS Summit in Russia in October, where it engaged in discussions to strengthen international cooperation and presented investment and trade opportunities.
