Gambella region is celebrating the 19th Ethiopian Nationalities Day under the theme "National Consensus for National Unity" with various programs. The region's celebration, attended by the regional administrator Alemitu Umoud, includes a symposium held in Jikaw woreda.
The Speaker of the Gambella Regional Council, Banchiayhu Dingeta, stated that celebrating Nationalities Day should strengthen national unity, particularly maintaining the current peace in the region. She emphasized that all nationalities should focus on national issues that strengthen unity to continue the manifestation of ethnic federalism and the coexistence of peoples.
Jikaw woreda Administrator, Andrew Tut, added that unity based on mutual understanding should be strengthened by continuing togetherness amidst diversity. He also stressed the importance of everyone playing their part to achieve the ongoing efforts to build a strong and effective federal system.
The symposium in Kwachatiyang town, Jikaw woreda, was attended by top regional officials, community members from various woredas, elders, and Aba Geddas and cultural groups from the Ilubabor Zone.
