8th PIDA Week Kicks Off in Addis Ababa, Focusing on Resilient, Inclusive Infrastructure

President Taye Atske-Selassie has emphasized the pivotal role of infrastructure in driving economic growth and fostering regional integration across Africa. He stressed the importance of building resilient infrastructure that benefits all segments of society.

He made the remark during the 8th Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) Week that commenced yesterday at the African Union Headquarters. This high-level gathering is centered around the theme "Fostering Resilient and Inclusive Infrastructure for Africa's Sustainable Growth: Leveraging Transformative Financing and Regional Integration."

Dr. Alemu Sime, Minister of Transport and Logistics, highlighted Ethiopia's ongoing infrastructure projects and the government's dedication to accelerating regional connectivity.

The 8th PIDA Week, hosted by the Government of Ethiopia in collaboration with the African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa's Development (AUDA-NEPAD), the African Union Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the African Development Bank, will bring together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for boosting infrastructure development across the continent.

The event will conclude on November 29, 2024.
