The Ministry of Peace has announced that an international peace conference will be held in Addis Ababa next week.
According to the State Minister for Peace building and National Reconciliation, Dr. Keiredin Tezera, the conference, themed "Building a Prosperous and Peaceful Africa," will take place on November 25-26, 2024.
The Ministry of Peace has organized this conference, which will be attended by representatives from 22 African countries. Nine of these countries will be represented at the ministerial level.
Diplomats stationed in Addis Ababa and non-governmental organizations working in the peace sector are also expected to participate. In total, over 400 participants are expected to deliberate on peace issues.
The State Minister highlighted Ethiopia's extensive experience in peacekeeping missions. He further stated that the conference will serve as a platform to showcase the country's contributions to regional, continental, and global peace.
The National Dialogue Commission will share the work being done to resolve the challenges the country has faced in recent years through dialogue. Countries including Rwanda and South Africa are expected to share their experiences.
The African Union and the United Nations will deliver messages at the forum, and regional organizations including IGAD will participate in the peace conference.
