1.8 Billion Birr Investment: Bahir Dar Stadium Nears Completion

Bahir Dar is buzzing with excitement as its International Stadium made an incredible progress towards its January opening. The second phase of construction, costing a whopping 1.8 billion birr, has come a long way and is nearing completion.

Erziq Isa, Head of the Amhara Region's Youth and Sports Bureau, confirmed the ambitious timeline, stating that the stadium is poised to host sporting activities and competitions within the next four months.

On Sunday, senior government officials toured the construction site, witnessing the impressive progress. Over 45,000seats have already been installed, with the remaining 7,000 expected to be in place soon.

The stadium, spanning 42 hectares, is designed to be a self-sustaining facility, generating revenue through various activities beyond sporting events. The second phase includes the construction of training and competition fields, dressing rooms, and the installation of lighting for night games and other events. With its grand opening just months away, Bahir Dar International Stadium is set to become a landmark for the region, attracting major sporting events and contributing to the city's economic growth.
