The president of the Somali Regional State, Mustafe Muhammed, stated that religious equality and tolerance have been established in Ethiopia.
He mentioned that the religious freedom that the Muslim community had been raising for many years has been able to find a response under the wise leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) in the past years of reform.
Thus, it has been possible to establish religious freedom and tolerance in our country; the evidence for this is that we have seen Iftar ceremonies being held in various governmental and non-governmental institutions, starting from the National Palace immediately after the reform, in the presence of the Prime Minister, he said.
He also stated that since the reform, they have witnessed Taraweeh prayers and Quran competitions being broadcast live on the national television station.
In his speech delivered while attending the Eid prayers, the president of the regional state said that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) deserves thanks and respect for his contribution to this.
Meanwhile, he stated that following the reform, the religious freedom and unity that the Muslim community has gained in our country's history has ended the detention of religious leaders and representatives who were imprisoned in various detention centers before the reform.
On this occasion, he said that “by continuing the good deeds that the Muslim community has shown during fasting and prayer, we must jointly strengthen the peace and development of our country.”
