The Great Ethiopian Run International 10km - 2024 Sofi Malt - has been recognized as a World Athletics Label Road Race by the world’s governing body.
This is the first time that a race in Ethiopia has been accorded this status.
In its annual assessment the World Athletics refers to Label races as possessing “superior standards in event organization, safety and runner experience as well as support from public authorities to the event and a financial commitment to anti-doping.”
World athletics also makes assessments on the technical and competition aspects of the race, including course measurement, chip timing and elite athlete participation.
The designation of a World Athletics Label Race is one of four categories of label with the others being Elite Label, Gold Label and Platinum Label.
