This year’s Irrecha festival marks a remarkable turning point. The occasion has evolved from a traditional celebration into a vibrant tourist destination and a vital source of income for Addis Ababa. City Mayor Adanech Abiebie underscored. This came during the 6th round of the Ireecha Forum that was held in the Adwa memorial museum.

The event was graced by the presence of Abba Gedas, Hade Sinke, ambassadors, and various dignitaries from the diplomatic community, alongside senior officials from federal, regional, and city administrations, as well as local residents and members of the diaspora.

Adanech articulated that Ireecha serves as a vital link for the Oromo people, reconnecting them with their creator, nature, and one another. She described the celebration as a cornerstone of the Geda system, embodying gratitude, peace, and brotherhood.

In Ireecha, distances shrink, and conflicts find resolution, she stated, After a prolonged period of suspension, Hora Finfine Ireecha was once again observed with the brotherhood of all peoples, this time at its original location of the celebration.
