Ethiopia and Russia have announced their commitment to working closely to strengthen their existing military and technical cooperation.
The 14th Ethio-Russia Intergovernmental Joint Committee meeting on Military and Technical Cooperation has commenced in Moscow, Russia. A delegation led by Ethiopian State Minister of Defense, Marta Luwiji, is participating in the discussions.
During her address at the meeting, State Minister Marti emphasized that the military and technical cooperation between Ethiopia and Russia is a cornerstone of the two countries' long-standing relationship and strategic partnership.
She highlighted that the Joint Committee serves as a framework to review Ethio-Russian military cooperation and to strengthen Ethiopia's defense capabilities through capacity-building initiatives. The state minister also noted the potential to leverage opportunities in technology transfer.
According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anatoly Punchuk, the Russian co-chair of the Joint Committee, affirmed Russia's readiness to further enhance its military and technical cooperation with Ethiopia, ENA learned.
