Ethiopia’s economy has shown resilience amid challenging global conditions, acknowledges a US Treasury official.
The acknowledgement was heard during a discussion between Ethiopian Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and US Treasury Deputy Assistant Secretary Eric Meyer.
The two officials held constructive discussions on a broad range of bilateral and global issues at the 2025 IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings, according to the Ethiopian Ministry of Finance.
Meyer attributed the resilience Ethiopia’s economy has shown to sound macro management and reform measures undertaken by the government. Meyer encouraged his Ethiopian counterpart to maintain positive momentum on implementation of Ethiopia’s important ongoing reform program that is supporting the modernization and diversification of the economy.
Minister Ahmed Shide, on his part, expressed that Ethiopia remains committed to advancing partnership with the United States in various domains of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and regional stability.
