The President of the Sidama region in Ethiopia, Desta Ledamo, announced today a series of ambitious development projects aimed at significantly enhancing the economic and social welfare of the local population.
In a statement addressing ongoing initiatives, he highlighted the government's commitment to fostering common prosperity through targeted interventions.
"Development projects that ensure common prosperity have been prioritized and have yielded positive results over the past four years," President Desta declared.
He emphasized that substantial efforts have been made to improve infrastructure and access to essential services, including roads, clean drinking water, healthcare, education, and electricity.
A notable component of these initiatives is the Family Prosperity Program, designed to provide economic benefits to families. This program encompasses various initiatives tailored to harness the region's resources for job creation.
"Attention is being paid to using the region's resources to provide citizens with job opportunities, and this has enabled many to benefit," he stated.
In a remarkable achievement, President Desta revealed that approximately 300,000 jobs have been created in Sidama over the last four years.
He assured citizens that support for job creation would continue through working capital, workplace development, and other means. "We are committed to strengthening the job creation sector," he affirmed.
Additionally, President Desta discussed efforts to stabilize markets by increasing production and productivity.
He pointed out that corridor development projects, which involve collaboration between government and community stakeholders, are yielding tangible benefits.
"These projects have not only made cities more convenient and competitive but have also transformed the work culture of the community and created numerous job opportunities," he noted.
The President concluded by highlighting the positive impact of peace and development activities on the lives of the people in Sidama.
He reiterated that regional leadership is dedicated to working closely with citizens to ensure continued progress and prosperity for all.
