During today's visit to Mogadishu, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud have discussed key areas of cooperation, including peace, security, economic development, and joint infrastructure projects. Premier Abiy stressed the importance of regional collaboration for the Horn of Africa.
During his remarks, PM Abiy pointed out the abundant resources of the Horn of Africa, including fertile land, fresh water, and a capable workforce, while acknowledging the ongoing challenges in achieving food security. He stressed that regional integration is vital for realizing shared goals, asserting that the potential for collective growth is immense.
The Prime Minister reiterated that isolation is not an option; instead, collaboration is essential for a prosperous future. Following his visit, a joint communiqué was released by the governments of Ethiopia and Somalia, reinforcing their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation for mutual benefit, while recognizing the deep historical connections and shared borders that unite their nations.
